No doubt, you've had lives revolving around baseball through high school. It's been great fun for me, no activity I love more than watching you guys play ball. And you're a couple of damn good ballplayers. Champs as kids, city champs in middle school, carried your high school team for 4 years (well, 3, thanks Covid).
Baseball's taught you a lot about winning, losing, pressure, friendships. Love seeing you guys go out and hug opposing players you've played with on this team or that team over the years. You're good friends to all these guys. It's honed your senses of humor too. Witty bunch of kids from all the years sitting around busting on each other. Fun.
I love this article from the win over McAuliffe. It's like a who's who of your best baseball buddies in one place. Mitch, Danny, you guys, all of you contributing to the title. Even a Nate mention. Great day. As of this writing, it's still out here: https://sites.google.com/dpsk12.net/hamiltonathletics/spring-sports

2017 Denver Prep League Champions
Denver Public Schools concluded their 2017 Prep League boys’ baseball season with a great finale between two undefeated teams, McAuliffe International and Hamilton. Both teams also won their respective divisional titles at the end of the regular season.
Strong pitching and smart defensive plays kept the teams scoreless through the first two innings. Then, in the top of the third, Jackson Buckley an 8th grader from Hamilton, led off the inning with a deep fly ball to left center field that just went off the glove of the Sun Devils’ diving centerfielder, Lunden Augusta. Buckley ended up at second base with a double and then advanced to third base on a pass ball when batter for the Huskies, Kyle Hrin, was at the plate. Hrin, twin brother of pitcher Tyler, then swung at the next pitch and hit a ground ball right up the middle to knock in the first run of the game which eventually would be the game winning run.
Hamilton held on to the 1-0 lead behind some strong pitching from Jaden LaVigne on the mound, who relieved Tyler Hrin in the bottom of the fourth. The Huskies added two more insurance runs in the top of the 6th when Mitchell Accola led off the inning with a double off Sun Devils’ reliever, Nate McHugh. Tyler Hrin knocked in Accola with an RBI single. Hrin hustled to second base with some smart base running when a throw was made to the plate from the outfield to put him in scoring position. Hrin then ended up on third base on a pass ball and scored on a fielder’s choice with a ground ball hit to the right side of the infield by Danny Brady.
The Sun Devils made some noise in the bottom of the 6thwith a one out triple by Lunden Augusta after LaVigne looked strong to close it out after striking out the lead-off batter. He then walked the next batter to make it 1st and 3rd with one out but quickly refocused and struck out the next two batters to end the game and championship for the Hamilton Huskies 3-0. Congratulations to both teams on their successful seasons and well played championship game.
